Jaguar I-PACE | London to Brussels on a Single Charge

So in the best conditions trained driver, warm air temperature with pre-conditioned battery, driving in the vicar eco mode, aided by the perfect conditions of the tunnel (not headwind, perfect asphalt) could only manage to squeeze 229 miles from a 90KW battery and arrive with 8% of SoC or 19 optimistic miles, so basically with a regular driver, driving normally in everyday conditions would be even shorter than that.

235 miles on a single charge is not impressive. 600 miles would be though with the AC on, at 65 mph, with full cargo.

Ford themselves couldn't run them either. TATA took it off their hands and not only made the brands profitable but also created new job opportunities all across Europe. So, therefore TATA saved them.

Its only 229 miles, why would you not do it on a single charge? Especially with the quoted range for the i-Pace. You could do it in a Kona EV 64 kWh or pretty much ANY Tesla incl. Model 3. What is most worrying is that ONLY 8% of battery is left when you consider the quoted range of the i-Pace. In a Kona for example in real-world conditions, there would most likely be 20% of battery left. I LOVE the design of the i-PACE but am yet to be convinced by its battery management.

Roy Clay Bjorn YouTube page explained the possible issue with I-Pace range currently. They likely lean more on performance then range Born talked about how Tesla first used more energy per kilometer but with duel motor design they could give the smaller front motor work an use less power. Kona is just a smaller lighter car uses less energy anyway. Jag.overtime could squeeze out more range due to the decent size battery an software updates.

Yeah, this is the thing with these sort of publicity stunts. It sounds impressive but it’s only relative to something very few people would truly have any conception of. Another example, such as going from Russia to America sounds like it’d take really long when in reality they’re really close to each other. I guess the aim is to convince the public that EVs have enough range, and it is useful for that, but this probably isn’t useful as a measure of range itself, especially when compared to competition.

Jaguar isn't in the same category. Not meaning that in an insultive way, comparing a Jaguar and a Hyundai is pointless, as both are built to fill completely different rolls for completely different paople.

They aren't made by ford. They are produced in JLR factory in Castle Bromwich in Birmingham. P.S Ford does not own neither land rower nor jaguar but is owned by TATA and it's been so for more than 10 years now. In fact it was TATA that actually brought them out of bankruptcy and made them profitable.

How much time does it take to full charge

Vor 4 Monate
Loui Coleman
Loui Coleman

Subhani Kiladi it really depends on where you charge. If you’re at home, chances are you don’t have or need a fast charger, so a 3 to 4 hour charge overnight is fine. There are also fast chargers for long distances which can take as little as an hour to 80% (recommended charge capacity to not ruin the battery) but these can sometimes be hard to find for most EVs. If charge time is the biggest concern, you may want to consider Tesla as their superchargers can refill from low to 80% in about half an hour and those stations are in a lot of locations and motorways/highways.

An average speed measurement was not taken, but this test was conducted on a variety of different roads and the driver took care to drive as they would normally. It was essential that our drive was representative of real-world use, not ‘hypermiling’ with comfort features such as climate control switched off. The aim of this activity was not to try and get the best range possible, but to showcase I-PACE's everyday usability.

Hi John, I did a similar test and the average speed was between 90 and 100 kph with similar average consumption (23 kWh / 100 km). You can read it here, unfortunately in Italian but maybe Google Translate can help you. There are two images at the end with all the data from the journey. http://www.hdmotori.it/2018/09/11/jaguar-i-pace-live-batteria/. Same setup: 1 driver, Eco Mode, Smart Climate on

Thank you very much for your response ... I understand that filming etc.. and driver rest, so really my question is "what was the average speed?" The reason for the question is that that range is a big factor for some people. So we know the car can do 400km/250miles if driven correctly and in the right mode/conditions. The one factor we don't have from the video is what speed did the driver use? Did they drive at 70pmh on a motorway or only drive at 45mmph to achieve best economy? (I'm guessing at 45mph, but the point is that it's not "normal" speed) - would be great if you could give any more info. Thanks in advance.

Vor 4 Monate
Loui Coleman
Loui Coleman

Vikas DP they’re not really the same market. The prices are not really comparable. The Model X has better specs, features and charging infrastructure, but this comes at a price above the iPace. Really the iPace wouldn’t be a vehicle if not for Tesla forcing everyone to electrify. To me the iPace is more of a diesel killer than a Tesla killer. This car is obviously better than Jaguar’s diesel or petrol vehicles.
